Anna Hazare arrested and sent to Tihar jail

Veteran social activist and anti-corruption movement leader Anna Hazare was detained on August 16, 2011, at 7:16 a.m. under section 107 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He was later arrested and sent to Tihar Jail.

Other activists like Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi were also arrested and sent to Tihar jail.

Mr. Anna Hazare had planned to go on an indefinite hunger strike at Jaiprakash Narayan Park in New Delhi.

It is an open murder of democracy where a person just wanted to protest against corruption in a peaceful way. It seems that the UPA government is afraid of the support he is getting from masses but his arrest would definitely worsen the situation and more people would pour out on the road to support him.

The government can arrest one Anna but could not arrest millions of Anna. Millions of people have flooded the roads of India in order to show support for Anna. Indians are fed up of the unscrupulous corruption. Inflation is skyrocketing. Common people want relief from this. All these years they have been waiting for a good leader and now that they have got one like Anna Hazare, they are showing their support for him and are even ready to die for him.

We all should support Anna Hazare and should not stop until the Jan Lokpal Bill is granted.
