The meaning of the word juggernaut is “An inexorable power or object which crushes everything that comes in its way.” In British English, it means “a large vehicle”.

Origin of the word Juggernaut:

The word juggernaut has its root in the word Jagannath, one of Lord Vishnu’s names. The word Jagannath means “Lord of the world.” Lord Vishnu is one of the three most important gods of Hindus. In Puri in Orissa in India, a rath yatra is organized annually in which thousands of devotees pull the chariot bearing an image of Jagannath, Lord Vishnu. This chariot is very big and you need thousands of people to pull it. It crushes everything that comes in its way. Therefore, it represents a huge power. The current meaning of the word originated in the mid-19th century.

Therefore, the meaning of juggernaut is “a large invincible power”. which can crush the opponents.
